Hello Norris Families!

Welcome to the Norris School District Expanded Learning Program, Beyond the Classroom. This after school program will be offered each day school is in session until 5:30 pm and an additional 30 days during the summer months. Summer hours and dates may vary each year. Participation will be by invitation only and prioritized on a first come, first serve basis.Regular daily attendance is expected in order to maintain your student's enrollment.

The purpose of Beyond the Classroom is to mitigate learning loss by providing students with academic support and enrichment time using hands on experiences that will not duplicate what is taught during the school day. We provide students with a safe place to do homework, receive tutoring, participate in sports, complete community service projects, and participate in a variety of hands on academic and enrichment activities. TK- 6th grade students will be provided the opportunity to build skills in leadership, art, science and technology, health and safety awareness, and so much more! We have an outstanding staff of Site Supervisors and Program Leaders that plan, organize, and implement program activities, as well as community partners to support enrichment and academics. Parent and student feedback on the program will be gathered each session to support quality improvement and program planning.

Beyond the Classroom may not be located at your child's school site. If Beyond the Classroom is not offered at your child's school site, transportation will be provided for any student enrolled in the Expanded Learning Program to attend a location that is providing the Expanded Learning Program, and to return them to their original location or a location that is designated by Norris School District. Transportation and pick up locations will be communicated via email, fliers, and/or Parent Square.

The program will close for all school holidays(including Spring Break and Winter break) and for 30 days in the summer months. (Please see school closures on district holiday calendar). In addition to district holidays, Beyond the Classroom will close on the following dates for staff professional development: August 2, 2023, May 16, 2024, and May 31, 2024.

Parent/Guardians must attend a Parent Orientation in order to receive an application to register and enroll in the program. Information on dates and times for Parent Orientation will be announced on Parent Square. Parents unable to attend a scheduled parent orientation will need to make an appointment with the Program Manager. Beyond the Classroom will be offered in sessions ( Fall, Spring, and Summer).

Fall Session begins on 8/3/23 and runs until 12/22/23.

Spring Session begins 1/8/24 and runs until 5/31/24.

Summer Session begins June 4,2024 and run until July 12,2024.

Parents will need to complete an application for each session they would like their child(ren) to attend. Parents will need to complete an opt out form if their child(ren) are enrolled and would like to withdraw from the program. (See Opt Out tab above).
